Our kayak tour begins with a short bush walk up a trail to the top of the ridge, where we can survey our route from a breathtaking lookout to over the meeting of the three great waterways: Berowra, Marramarra, and the Hawkesbury.
Then we head back to the water for a full brief on the stable and stylish double sit-on-top kayaks, before we paddle our way up to explore the River. Make our way through the charming Milsons passage. Under towering sandstone cliffs, across the river, and over to the historic Bar Island, a special place for the locals of the river for thousands of generations, where we'll find an ancient midden, old church, and forgotten cemetery. Paddle past the famous oyster farms, which have been one of the region's lifebloods for centuries.
Stop at river beaches for a picnic or a swim, and see the shipwreck of the mysterious HMAS Parramatta. Clamber up to the bottom of a hidden waterfall. Have a cool dip in a secret natural pool in the rocks of the bush.
Over the course of the day the Country will tell its story. The Indigenous heritage and settlers’ history. A trip you won't forget.

This tour takes us up the magnificent Berowra Valley. A place which has remained largely unchanged for millions of years. All signs of the world slip away and it feels like we are transported back in time.
Learn the story of the land and the water up close and personal, the indigenous heritage of the Country, and the history of the settlers. Watch for wildlife playing among the unspoilt bush, beneath the towering sandstone cliffs.
Berowra Waters itself, however, is of course quite comfortable, with some of Sydney's finest restaurants and real estate.
Enjoy lunch at one of the iconic waterfront restaurants (A Chef Secrets, Fish Cafe, Peats Bite or Berowra Waters Inn), or let us provide wraps to eat in the wild.
Kayaking is exciting, but not strenuous. The waters are sheltered, and the tour runs at a gentle pace. Our kayaks are comfortable and easy to use. No experience is required. All are encouraged.
There is up to 20 km available to paddle, we can do as much or as little as you like.

Train and Hike:
A proper adventure! Add on a 6 km hike from Cowan Station down to the water in the valley, on a beautiful and well loved section of the Great North Walk.

Marramarra National Park is almost completely cut off from the world. One of the only ways to get there is from the river, so jump in our kayaks and come for an expedition...
Pass beneath the towering cliffs of the Hawkesbury Sandstone Explore historic Bar island, with its ancient middens, cemetery and old ruined churc.
When we come the Orchard we make camp for the night. Do dinner by the fire, settling in for a night under the stars on the banks of the river. All food & equipment provided.
Start the second day with hot coffee and a hearty breakfast. Some simple river side yoga if that’s your thing. Then we pack up camp and head down the river.
Back on the Hawkesbury, we head over to explore Bar Point. Have a cool dip in a secret pool, find a mysterious shipwreck, and have a quick clamber to the base of a hidden waterfall.
Finish back at Milsons Passage for a nice drink and a debrief, before a boat transfer back to the starting point.
